ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is looking for the hit-and-run driver they say hit a 15-year-old as she was walking along a St. Augustine roadway.

Deputies went to the area of Kenton Morrison Road and Four Mile Road at 8:30 p.m. Saturday after they received word of a crash involving a pedestrian. Deputies say the 15-year-old was walking with friends when she was hit.

Investigators say the victim was transported to UF Health Jacksonville where she died from her injuries.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office identified the victim Sunday as Haley N. Smith of St. Augustine.

Deputies are looking for a small pickup truck, possibly gold in color.

Anyone with any information concerning the vehicle is asked to call the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office at 824-8304. You can also remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward by calling Crime Stoppers of N.E. Florida at 1-888-277-TIPS.

It takes a pathetic coward to hit a human being or someones pet and just keep on going. My Prayers are also with this family.
