WAYCROSS, Ga. -- Police arrested two people in connection with the death of a Waycross firefighter.
Zachery Jacob Thompson, 17, and Ronnie Joseph Cranford, 23, are being held at the Ware County Jail on murder and arson charges.
The two are accused of setting a fire at a home on Isabella Street on Sunday. Police say a tip to the Arson Hotline led to the arrests.
After crews extinguished the fire, Lt. Jeff Little went into the home to look for hot spots when the ceiling collapsed, killing him.
"This has been a tragic loss for the Waycross Fire Department and community," said ATF Special Agent in Charge Christopher Shaefer. "ATF will continue to dedicate federal resources in partnership with local fire and law enforcement agencies in the pursuit of eradicating violent crime which threatens our citizens and those who risk their lives serving our communities."
There is a visitation for Little Tuesday night at the Central Baptist Church on Ava Street in Waycross. It's from 5 to 9 p.m.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday afternoon at the same church. The service begins at 2 p.m.
