2 homes damaged in Putnam County fire
PALATKA, Fla. -- Firefighters were unable to keep the flames from a house fire from spreading to a second house Sunday morning in Palatka.
The Palatka Fire Department says the initial call came in around 1:30 a.m., alerting them to flames at an abandoned house off of Laura Street.
Flames quickly destroyed the house and jumped to a nearby home.
The family living in the second home got out safely, and firefighters say they were able to limit damage to the area of the house around the front porch.
The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
