TAMARAC, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say two Florida toddlers have accidentally drowned in backyard swimming pools.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office says 2-year-old Jayden Dyess was found unresponsive in her family's pool in Homosassa on Sunday afternoon. Family members had last seen the girl watching TV. They performed CPR, but the girl was pronounced dead at a hospital.

In Broward County, sheriff's deputies say 23-month-old Johnny Davoer was found at the bottom of a family friend's pool in Tamarac, just a few feet away from where adults were sitting Saturday. It was unclear how long he was underwater. A deputy performed CPR, but the child was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The sheriff's office says the number one cause of death for children ages 1 to 4 in Broward County is drowning.
