GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The 20-year-old accused of murdering a house sitter in Oakleaf Plantation back in 2010 was convicted by a Clay County court Friday.

Prosecutors say Derrell P. Emery Jr., shot 33-year-old Leroy McDonald as he was watching a house that belonged to his cousin.

Clay County deputies were able to catch Emery after a brief shootout that left the juvenile injured.

Emery was found guilty on counts of first-degree murder, second-degree felony murder and burglary of an occupied dwelling.

Emery faces life in prison because he was a juvenile during the shooting.

He will be sentenced on Sept. 16, 2013.

So home invasion, robbery, murder and he can only be tried as kid? Lovely in 30 years up for probation and will probably kill again with 5 years of that.
