3 people rescued from chilly water of St. Johns River
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Three people were rescued from the St. Johns River, near Sister’s Creek, after they became displaced from their boat, according to a public information officer with the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard says they received an alert about the rescue just after 11:40 a.m., and by the time they arrived on the scene the three people were already ashore.
A good Samaritan reportedly helped two of the three boaters ashore after they became distressed in their 14-foot vessel.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department says they responded to the rescue site at Heckscher Drive but did not end up transporting anyone to the hospital.
So far there's no word on what forced the boaters into the water.
Both seas and winds were calm at the time of the incident.
