MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- The amount of trash fished out of Black Creek has doubled. We first told you about the clean-up last month. Two weeks ago crews removed 21,000 pounds of garbage drowned by Debby.

That number doubled to 47 tons.

The cleanup project cost $84,000 in state and federal dollars.

Clay County Emergency Management crews say the cleanup will make these waters a lot safer.

More than 600 homes were damaged in Clay County due to Tropical Storm Debby's torrential rains.

It is quite possible the terms garbage and trash are not correctly identifying all types of material that is being removed. There is a lot of natural debris like trees that were uprooted and submerged. Personal property that was washed away and damaged wasn't trash initially, but shouldn't remain in a creek system.

>>Two weeks ago crews removed 21,000 pounds of garbage drowned by Debby. That number doubled to 47 tons. << 21,000 is equal to 10.5 tons. Doubled, it would only be 21 tons. 47 tons equals 94,000 pounds, assuming the math hasn't changed from 2,000lb = 1 ton :)
