Customers are lining up in our area trying to buy the sweetest gift to delight their Valentine.

Many will dip into their wallets to choose a traditional gift like chocolates, flowers or even jewelry.

But local adult novelty stores tell Action News that this Valentine's Day has been their best ever.

Sunset Novelties has four stores in the Jacksonville area. The owner told Action News nothing has ever whipped up sales for adult novelty items like the recent best selling book, "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Brittany Price, a cashier at Sunset's store on Beach Boulevard, said, "Our Valentine's Days have been pretty busy, but out of all the years that we've been here, this has gone well past any of the past years that we had."

Some of these stores were open well past midnight on Wednesday night to keep up with the holiday demand and they now have special sections devoted to items local customers want to take from the book to the bedroom.

The book targets female readers like Rachel Kefe from Fort Caroline who was shopping Wednesday night for adult novelties for Valentine's Day. Kefe said, "I feel like older people who lost romance have a lot more romance now."
