Isn't it funny. I have been a certified teacher since July 2013. If passing all of the tests (3 test) tells you I know what I am supposed to be doing then why in the Hell doesn't the school districts around here call me. I applied for jobs in St. Johns County and Clay County (and I have been watching Duval County for openings, which there hasn't been for Elementary Ed except for Resource teachers) and all I get is a Dear Applicant letter-no interview. So tell me if I am highly qualified as I have passed all of the required test the first time where are the job interviews. I also graduated with Honors for what????

I am curious about the teachers required to attain out-of-field certification. I am a third year substitute teacher on the job hunt for full-time employment in the classroom, and as far as I was aware, teachers can only be hired for whatever grades they are certified to teach. How were all these teachers even hired without certification for the subject area they taught all of last year? Additionally, I'm wondering what Vitti specifically means when he says "new" teachers will be filling the spots of these freshly fired educators. Are new, meaning new to the profession teachers allowed to apply or have these spots already been filled with even more of the surplus list?

Good, it is about time we started holding the teachers accountable to standards. Now it is time to hold the students and parents accountable as well and improve our failing school system.

Too bad the School Board and Superintendent are not required to be certified.

The system has standards. 66 people didn't meet those standards. They were fired. Sounds like faultless logic to me.
