80-year-old gets life for killing niece
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An 80-year-old man will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing his niece after a fight in 2008.
In 2008, John Clark Smith was arrested for killing his 49-year-old niece, Mary Back, in a Westside home. The two were drinking and got into an argument over money, then Smith pulled out his shotgun and fired at Back.
A jury convicted Smith of Second Degree Murder in August 2012. Friday morning Smith was sentenced to life in prison.
