JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The 80 men and women aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Valiant return to Mayport Wednesday after a four-week deployment.
The crew participated in Operation Blue Hammer, a border patrol mission in the Straits of Florida.
The crew of the Valiant joined other law enforcement agencies to detect those who try to enter the United States illegally by sea.
During the mission, the Valiant crew stopped and processed 129 migrants and two ships that were trying to enter Cuba without proper documentation.
During the deployment, the crew also celebrated the re-enlistment of a third class petty officer, an advancement to chief petty officer, and an officer promotion.
