Aaron Hernandez pleads not guilty to killing friend
FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) -- Ex-New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez pleads not guilty to murder and weapons charges in Odin Lloyd's death.
The former Gator was arraigned in superior court in Fall River, Mass., today on a first-degree murder charge following his indictment in the killing of his friend.
A grand jury indicted Hernandez last month in the death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's girlfriend.
Hernandez was arrested in June and pleaded not guilty to murder and weapons charges in district court. The indictment moves the case to superior court.
Prosecutors say Hernandez orchestrated Lloyd's killing because he was upset at Lloyd for talking to some people Hernandez had problems with.
Defense attorneys say the evidence is circumstantial and don't believe the state's case will hold up.
Hernandez is being held without bail.
