Green Cove Springs, Fla. -- A man is accused of stealing millions from people who trusted him.

According to a police report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, James Hargnett stole more than 16 million dollars from those trusting people. The police report says it has been going on since 2006. Jso went through Hargnett's bank records and found more than 254 transactions from various peoples accounts he was doing accounting work for. It was then put into his account.

Criminal attorney Richard Kuritz isn't working the case but says there's a good reason why it took so long. "It's a trusting relationship. You want to believe your accountant is looking out for you," said Kuritz.

We tried to track down Hargnett's family. We went to his home in Green Cove Springs. It was a gated property and no one answered. The cell phone on the police report was turned off.

Hargnett has pleaded not guilty. We called his attorney for comment but we have not received one yet.
