JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The man accused of killing 20-year-old Michelle McCoy made an appearance in court this week.

Kenneth Thompson stood mute, which the judge takes as a not-guilty plea.

Thompson is accused of kidnapping and killing McCoy. Thompson's uncle, Larry Thompson, was connected to the case. He recently took his own life in a standoff with police.

McCoy's family had this to say about seeing Thompson in court. "We'll have justice. And our family will feel more better the case can be closed and well be happy we know what who all done this to our family member," says Michelle's sister Melissa McCoy.

Thompson is scheduled to be back in court January 17th.
