Airline to add non-stop flights between JIA and Bahamas
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Silver Airways is increasing their spring service between Jacksonville International Airport and Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas.
The airline plans to restart their weekly international service Feb 14., and add an additional aircraft to the route March 2, during the busy spring tourism season.
A press release states that the additional route is planned to run about two months.
"Silver's additional flight to Marsh Harbour gives travelers another option to visit the Bahamas during the most popular time of year," Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Steve Grossman said. "The community's continued support of this service is essential as we encourage Silver to increase their presence in Northeast Florida."
Silver Airways plans to use a 34-seat Saab 340 for the short international flight.
JetBlue and Silver Airways are the only carriers that offer non-stop service to outside the United States from JIA.
