All-clear given on Mathews Bridge after SWAT call-out
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A SWAT call-out near Downtown Jacksonville forced the closure of the Mathews Bridge Sunday.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says that a man drove past a barricade at the base of the Mathews and then used ladders to climb to support beams at the top of the bridge. When the suspect refused to come down SWAT was called to the scene. Negotiators were able to coax the man down and detained him for mental health reasons by means of the Baker Act.For breaking news on the go, download our Action News App.
