WOODBINE, Ga. -- Twelve dogs were confiscated from a home where deputies allegedly found evidence of a dog-fighting operation.
The investigation began in late 2012 from information gathered by the Camden County Sheriff's Office. According to the sheriff's office, at least one Woodbine man faces possible charges of dog fighting and animal cruelty.
A total of 12 dogs were rescued. A suspected fighting pit and other equipment used in the alleged criminal activity were also found, according to the sheriff's office.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Kingston Police Department assisted in the investigation.
Atlanta Humane Society and the Camden Couunty Animal Control provided assistance with the animals.
