Jacksonville, Fla.-- Mayor-elect Alvin Brown is putting together his transition team.

The mayor's office will have a new look come next month and a new man leading the city. Right now, mayor-elect Alvin Brown is working fast to put a transition team in place. "I've been talking to business leaders, religious leaders, and civic leaders," said Brown.

Brown says whoever is on the team has a lot of work ahead of them. "I want to take Jacksonville to the next level and put people back to work and make sure we operate more effectively and balance the budget," said Brown.

While Brown is looking to bring in more people, some city employees under Mayor Peyton's administration are wondering whether they'll still have a job. A spokeswoman with Mayor Peyton's office says, "Historically, the incoming mayor requests the resignations of the division and department heads and asks that they indicate whether they would like to stay in their current position or not."

Brown says he hasn't made a decision on that yet. "You have a lot of good people in public service."

Brown isn't officially saying any names on his transition team, but Action News has heard several that may be in the running.

Some of the names we've heard on the short list include, Audrey Moran. She ran for mayor, but lost in the first election. Peter Rummell, who is the former chairman and chief executive officer of the St. Joe Company. Dr. Adam Herbert is the past president of UNF. Charlie Appleby is the Director, President and CFO of Advanced Disposal. Bill Hodges used to work in the state attorney's office.

Action news did talk with a few of those people by phone, but they would only say Brown is still finalizing things. Brown's team is expected to be announced, as early as Thursday.

Didn't vote for him, but don't disapprove of him, yet. Just couldn't bring myself to vote for a dem. Good luck, Mr. Brown.
