Amber Alert suspect to stay in Georgia jail
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The woman accused of abducting her daughter in Jacksonville will have to stay in a Georgia jail for at least another week.
Charity Chatman is awaiting extradition from Houston County to Duval County. At a hearing Thursday morning at the Houston County Superior Court, a judge moved her extradition case to January 16, according to public defender LaToya Bell.
Chatman is accused of abducting her 6-year-old daughter Onnika after a supervised visit two days after Christmas.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert. Chatman was arrested days later during a traffic stop in Perry, Ga. A driver called police after spotting Chatman's green Buick going south on Interstate 75. The driver saw pictures of Chatman's Buick on television newscasts.
Onnika is back in DCF custody in Jacksonville.
