FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – Because of an Action News viewer, Marines currently stationed in Afghanistan will get the Christmas they deserve.

Last week, we first told you about Julie Mixon Bargeron, a mother of a fallen soldier, who was trying to send care packages containing decorated Christmas trees and stuffed stockings to the troops. With the help of Pastor Hollie Tapley and her congregation at Memorial United Methodist Church, the outpouring of support was greater than anything they ever imagined.

However, the group was struggling to pay for the cost to ship the large boxes.

An Action News viewer, who wants to remain anonymous, called the station after the story first aired and helped pay for the majority of their expenses. According to Bargeron, the viewer donated $500 to the cause.

The packages were shipped overseas last week.
