ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- The legend of Ron Burgandy came, saw and conquered St. Simons Island.
Film crews set up several weeks ago and could be spotted at the 5th Street beach access, Coast Guard station, even at the pier.
"It's neat because we don't ever see anything like this because we're just this little island. We never get to see anything," Ansley Sellars said.
Locals staked out the area around the clock to get their glimpse of Will Farrell, Christina Appelgate and Steve Carrell, among others.
Meghan Conway got to wait on the cast at Southern Soul Barbecue.
"They were so down to earth. Funny. They were interacting with us. They weren't snotty or anything. They were really cool," she said.
In addition to excitement, filming created a big boost in business. The cast and crew spent an equivalent of 2,000 nights in local hotel rooms. The action is over, but people will have something to talk about for quite some time.
"It's been all over Facebook," Brandi Hiott said.
Anchorman Two is expected to hit theaters in December of this year.
