JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- A later start for storms today for metro Jacksonville and Southeast Georgia but with temperatures near or above 90 coupled with high humidity and an approaching weather disturbance, storms will develop and become heavy. Storms will move to the east/southeast at 20-25 mph and will produce a period of very heavy rain, gusty winds and intense lightning. Be prepared for fast changing weather conditions at the beaches and while driving. Thunderstorms developed earlier in the day south and west of Jacksonville which will mean an earlier end this evening. Meanwhile...a large area of storms over Alabama and Southwest Georgia is moving to the southeast. While this area of storms should weaken later this evening, it's possible that a few showers and storms could hang on long enough to move into Jacksonville and surrounding areas during the late evening and overnight. Tune in CBS-47 and Fox 30 as Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh tracks the storms into your neighborhood. Click ** here
