FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. -- A 20-year-old man is in jail, accused of attacking and robbing a man in European Village.
Kenneth Peters, of Palm Coast, was taken into custody Monday evening on a warrant for a battery and robbery from last month.
Peters is charged with striking the 60-year-old victim as the two walked into his home on Palm Harbor Parkway on January 31st. The victim said once inside, Peters struck him on the head with a heavy object, causing the victim to lose consciousness.
When the victim awoke, his wallet and Oxycodone medication were missing. He was transported to Florida Hospital Flagler with a severe head wound. He received 15 staples to his head and more than 55 stitches to his face.
The victim identified his attacker as a casual friend named "Kenny." Detectives contacted Peters through a number on the victim's cell phone.
Peters cooperated and admitted he planned to steal the victim's prescription medication, but denied actually taking the pills.
Detectives recovered a bag belonging to the victim inside an elevator at the apartment complex.
The investigation is ongoing and Peters is facing more charges.
