JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- There are new concerns tonight about efforts to improve safety in our skies.

An internal audit of the FAA shows the agency is not bringing smaller air carriers up to speed on new safety standards.

Those changes include new rest requirements for pilots and more detailed safety plans.

The new policies stem from the crash of a small plane in 2009 near Buffalo, N.Y. that killed Ellyce Kausner of Jacksonville and 49 others.
