LAKE MARY, Fla. (WFTV) -- After reports of shots being fired at Lake Mary High School on Friday, officials with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office searched the school and found nothing.
As Skywitness 9 HD was overhead, students could be seen running frantically from the school while others walked out with their hands above their heads.
Channel 9's Karla Ray learned the 911 call came in about shots being fired but deputies and police inside the school found no evidence of gunshots.
Officials said officers and deputies responded to the call and evacuated students as a precaution.
The district confirmed with Channel 9 the school was placed under Code Red and was put on lockdown for a brief period of time.
School officials said once law enforcement gives the official green light, the students will be allowed to go back into class and resume the day. Officials said the parents who were at the scene, will then be able to sign them out.
Greenwood Lake Middle School, which sits next door to the high school, was also on lockdown.
Officials with the Seminole County School District said the call was possibly a hoax.
