Auto shop fire ruled arson
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- All lanes of Blanding Boulevard are back open while the State Fire Marshal investigates a fire at an auto repair shop on the Westside.
The lanes reopened just before 7 a.m. Monday, less than three hours after the B.L.C. Automotive Repair caught fire. The flames caused an estimated $300,000 worth of damage.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue officials told Action News the fire started after 4:30 a.m. In a tweet, JFRD reported the call came in as an investigation to an Auto Parts Store and their first units on scene were greeted with a large column of smoke.
The fire became a second alarm fire and the State Fire Marshal was called in.
JFRD told an Action News photographer on the scene that they took extra precautions because there might have been oil or gas inside. They said there is a lot of damage to the building; however, it is not clear if it is a total loss.
