JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Seconds ago, a tornado warning was issued for northeastern Duval County and the eastern parts of Nassau County.
A flood watch continues...and will stay in effect through Friday. Steadier rain is expected through the overnight hours.
The First Alert Weather Team estimates overall rain totals to fall in the 3-6" range, with isolated amounts up to 8 inches.
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
Meanwhile, as Tropical Storm Andrea comes ashore in the Big Bend area of Florida late Thursday, the threat for tornadoes in Northeast Florida will be at its peak.
The First Alert Weather Team anticipates a tornado watch for our area tonight. Even if a tornado watch is not officially issued, conditions will be favorable for isolated tornadoes from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning.
Tropical Storm Andrea has had a history of tornado warnings in Key West, Miami, Palm Beach County, and the Tampa area. In fact, there was a confirmed tornado touchdown in the Tampa area.
