CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- There will be a bass fishing tournament to help raise money for scholarships to the Police Academy in the memory of Detective David White.

White was killed during a meth lab raid in Clay County in February of last year.

Whitey's Fish Camp is sponsoring a tournament to generate money to send scholarship recipients to the Police Academy at St. Johns River State College.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says this event represents the motto of the Dave White Memorial Foundation, "Proud of his service, Honoring his life."

The cost is $50 per boat.  There's a limit of five fish per team.

Detective Matt Hanlin was wounded in the meth raid.  He's one of the contacts for the event.  Call or email Det. Hanlin at 904 899-3128.

Also call or email Shawn Gordon at 904-545-4308 for more information.
