Bi-Lo acquisition forces closure of several grocery stores
GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- More than a dozen grocery stores across the Southeast will close their doors after Bi-Lo Holdings completes its acquisition of the Delhaize America group.
The company made the announcement on Tuesday.
The Harveys supermarket on U.S. Route 17 in Green Cove Springs is the only Jacksonville-area location that is slated to close.
R. Randall Onstead, president and CEO of Bi-Lo Holdings, said in a written statement, “We appreciate the many contributions our associates in these stores have made, and we will ensure they are treated respectfully and have the opportunity to pursue other open positions in nearby stores.”
The supermarket chain bought hundreds of Sweetbay, Reid’s and Harveys locations last year for $265 million.
