JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 17 year-old Bishop Kenny high school student was attacked during a cross-country training run last week. Police are searching for his attackers.
The student was running in the San Marco area off of Landon Ave. with other members of his cross country team. He told police that a silver impala drove by them twice saying things like "what's up". Three white males and a black male were in the car. He said that he was ignoring them and continued to run. The vehicle stopped and one of the people in the car and held him while another punched him twice in the face. He told police that he was able to get away but they caught up to him and punched him again.
A nearby resident came outside and yelled at the suspects scaring them off. One of the victim's friends ran back to the school and came back to pick him up in a car. They drove back to the school and called police.
The victim told one of the witnesses that he may have known one of the suspects.
A Bishop Kenny spokesperson told Action News that they are cooperating with police.
