CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- You might say Lorraine Forbes and her husband Gary are seasoned pros when it comes to a storm. They've lived on Main Street across from Black Creek in Middleburg for 35 years. And say this years storms have shocked even them.
Lorraine says, "The last flood was the worst one we've ever had."
The Forbes are used to their driveway flooding. "Our house is sitting high enough where the water won't come up. That whole ditch down there fills up and comes up to the driveway," she says.
And they have learned how to work around being stuck without a car. Lorraine says, "We have to use a canoe to paddle back in and out. It's a little difficult, but we're gonna do it. We're not gonna leave our home."
And like many Clay County locals who won't leave their home behind, they say they're always prepared for the worst. She says they, "Make sure we get enough food and stuff in the house."
