MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- Black Creek is back open, but authorities in Clay County say it's still very dangerous for boaters.

The swollen creek, now receding after major flooding from Tropical Storm Debby, is filled with debris carried away from people's homes, like refrigerators, furniture and tree limbs. Some of the debris is hidden beneath the surface.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office wants to remind boaters to take extra caution. Black Creek is a popular navigation route for boaters who want to get to the St. Johns River to dock near Moosehaven in Orange Park to watch the fireworks.

Tropical Storm Debby caused flood damage to more than 500 homes along Black Creek.
