JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Shoppers swarmed Jacksonville-area stores Thanksgiving evening, as they looked to get a jump on holiday shopping deals.

“I am a single mom, so I need to find things that are a better deal,” said Alex Carpenter, who waited in line at the Best Buy at St. Johns Town Center.

Even with a third of respondents in one recent  survey saying they will spend more money online than in stores this year, many shoppers said they still liked the "doorbuster" experience.

"Sometimes I just like to come out for the action; be part of the crowd,” said Sheria Glascow, who waited in line at Toys R Us.

And in some cases , there were deals shoppers couldn’t lock down online. Action News found a Kindle Fire offered as a Black Friday deal for Best Buy sold out on the retailer’s website, but it was available in stores.

Meanwhile, studies have found  that while shoppers can't always find necessarily the best deal online, they can end up saving on gas and impulse buys. But traditional retailers are still pulling out all the stops to lure shoppers inside stores.
