JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert will serve as captain of McKenzie's Run Saturday.
The run benefits the McKenzie Noell Wilson Foundation, founded in honor of the young Bolles student who died from a rare illness.
"A great event, a great idea for a great cause," Gabbert said. "McKenzie was a sweet girl. Everything I've ever heard about her has been positive. She was close to my age so it really hit home from that stand point."
Gabbert's duties as captain include getting to meet you.
"I'm going to go out there and help start the race off in the opening ceremony. There will be a question and answer with Brian Sexton. Then, really just hang out, mingle with the fans and just have fun at the event."
McKenzie's Run is Saturday. The 1-mile fun run is at 9 a.m. and the 5K is at 9:30 a.m. To sign up, just visit
