JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The recent rumors of Shad Khan buying an English Premier League team will spark more conversation about the Jacksonville Jaguars to London talk, but I think the move should do just the opposite.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are not going anywhere in my opinion. I've said this a bunch, but Khan's recent commitment to new video boards, a locker room, a training room, new uniforms, and even interest in downtown properties should be a clear indicator of his commitment to Jacksonville.

The recent reports of Khan's interest and purchase of the Fulham Football Club should be just viewed as the latest investment for one of the richest men in the world. Fulham is located in London and coupled with the Jags' four-year commitment to one game there, Khan could have a vested interest in sports franchises in two of the most powerful leagues on the globe.

I think what some people miss in this entire London conversation is how Jacksonville could benefit as a city and a franchise from commitment to going overseas. Yes, this is about growing the Jaguars brand internationally, but it's also about dollars -- big-time dollars.

I have heard the Jags will make almost $10 million from their game in London. That alone makes a lot of sense.

In addition, luring business and dollars to Jacksonville is the end game for Khan, in my opinion. If he can get London interests to invest in the Jaguars franchise and ultimately in the city, then the Jaguars will be a viable NFL franchise -- even in the eyes of the national media and the league.

The city offers so much to big businesses and wealthy people like the coast line, several runways and of course no state income tax.

The cross-promotion between the two franchises and cities, again assuming these reports are true, will be advantageous for Khan and the city.

Khan has the money to let these things play out. It will take time, but if you use your imagination, what this city could look like in 15-20 years is exciting.

Keep in mind, the Jaguars may still be considered a small market, but the dynamic to remember is that the owner is one of the richest men in the NFL and the world.
