ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has identified the missing boater that was found dead after being thrown from his boat.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue initially received the call around 7 p.m. of two people missing after they were thrown from a boat after losing control in the Salt Run, near the St. Augustine Inlet.

According to the FWC, Ernest Young, 51, and Wesley Wallace, 65, were leaving a dock on Salt Run when the boat made a sudden turn and threw them both into the water.  The engine cut off and both men began to drift.

Wallace was able to swim to the shore of Conch Island on Anastasia State Park. He was rescued by another boat and returned to his vessel.  Wallace searched for Young for 30 minutes then the people that rescued him called 9-1-1.

Rescue units from the FWC, St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and Fire Rescue, St. Augustine Police Department and Coast Guard searched the area for Young.  His body was recovered several hours later.
