VILANO BEACH, Fla. -- St. Johns County Fire Rescue and Florida Fish and Wildlife responded to a boat in distress just north of the St. Augustine Inlet Sunday.

Public Information Officer Jeremy Robshaw tells Action News three people were on board a 14 foot Sunfish vessel, when the mast broke leaving the trio adrift a couple of hundred yards off the shoreline.

First responders towed the boat back to shore, so the anglers could figure out what to do with the wreckage.

No one was injured during the ordeal.

The Coast Guard was alerted to the incident but did not make it to the scene in time because of the fast work of SJCFR and the FWC.
