JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police found a man and a woman dead inside a hotel near Tinseltown.
Police responded to a call about a shooting at the Southside Hampton Inn & Suites on Southside Boulevard.
A housekeeper discovered the bodies of a man and woman inside one of the rooms.
"The room was latched from the inside. They have a special tool they were able to unlatch it. When they went inside they saw two persons that looked like they had been shot," said Sgt. Shawn Coarsey, with JSO.
Investigators say the victims are in their 40s, and their deaths may be the result of a murder-suicide.
Police found a firearm inside the room which was locked from the inside.
Investigators also found multiple envelopes with letters addressed to people scattered throughout the hotel room.
Melissa Neal works at the hotel next door. She says the news came as a shock. She never expected something like this to happen at a business near Tinsletown.
"We have cops patrol the area all the time. One guy comes in here everyday, checks on us, asks if we need anything. It's always been safe," said Neal.
