JACKSONVILLE Fla.-- Medical examiners confirmed that remains discovered by detectives Wednesday in the woods off of Braddock Rd are human.

Police remain tight lipped about the investigation as they try to identify the body. Detectives won't reveal if the body found was that of a male, female or provide an age.

Greg Vinson hunts in the acres of woods that line Braddock Road. He says he's seen all sorts of strange things back there, but he's horrified to learn that the remains police found belong to a person.

"There's bones all up and down the road but you find human remains out here by private property it kind of puts a dent in stuff," he said.

Detectives were drawn to the area by a tip in a missing person case. They're hoping the bones discovered hold the key to their investigation.

And as eerie as the discovery has been for neighbors and hunters like Vinson, they too are hoping it brings peace for a family who has been missing a loved one.

"I'm glad they found whoever it was and that it gives closure to the family," said Vinson.
