Body of missing boater found nearly a week later
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The search for 69-year-old John Butler has come to an end.
Action News has learned Butler's body was discovered at the Green Cove Springs Marina at the foot of the Shands Bridge.
Police were able to identify him through his drivers license.
Butler was last seen on Monday leaving a local restaurant.
Action News spoke with some of John Butler's friends at Green Cove Springs Marina on Super Bowl Sunday. They left a seat empty in his honor.
Troels Klavsen said "[It's] a relief because the mood around here has been pretty sad, until we know exactly what's happened. It makes it finished."
St.Johns and Clay County Sheriff's Office are investigating the cause of John Butler's death.
An autopsy is pending.
