JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- JEA has issued a boil-water advisory for part of St. Johns County.

The advisory was issued Thursday afternoon for customers in the area of 2371 South Ponte Vedra Boulevard (US A1A) south through the intersection of South Beach Drive bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west.

Those affected are asked to boil water used for drinking and food preparation or to use bottled water.

The advisory was prompted by reduced water pressure and/or outages in the affected area occurring as a result of a broken water distribution line which was struck by a private landscape contractor during the process of installing a large tree.

This advisory will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected and two consecutive days of satisfactory bacteriological results have been obtained. Affected customers will be notified when the advisory is lifted.
