JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Bones were discovered on Friday about 150 yards into the woods off Brightman Boulevard and Town Center Parkway.

Police tell Action News surveyors working to develop the plot of land stumbled into the human remains around 3 p.m. and called 911.

According to JSO Sgt. Jay Farhat, the remains appeared to have been in the woods for quite some time.

Police are still looking for clues to help identify the remains. They’ll be checking missing persons reports from the past two years.

On Saturday, police plan to use cadaver dogs for a forensic survey of the area.

At this time, the age and sex of the person found remains unknown.
