Bones found in the woods by Town Center ruled a homicide
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced Monday that foul play is suspected in the death of a man whose bones were found in the woods near the Town Center.
Police revealed Monday that the skeletal remains that were found across from the Publix near the St. Johns Town Center are that of a male and the skull had several bullet holes in it.
Local surveyor Mitch Henderson, who found the remains, tells Action News they were scattered around by the time he found them, "there was a skull and ribs and a pelvis. I didn't go rooting around. I didn't want to touch anything or mess with anything. I didn't want to contaminate it for the cops."
Police are still trying to figure out how long the bones had been there, and the investigation is ongoing.
