Bookmakers place odds on royal baby's name

LONDON -- Royal watchers - and oddsmakers - around the world are waiting to learn the name of the first child of Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.

The third in line to the British throne - a boy - was born Monday at 4:24 p.m. London time.

Bookmakers have placed odds on a few contenders for the bundle of joy.

According to CBS News, the all-around favorite seems to be George. As of Tuesday morning, Paddy Power lists the odds on that name at 7/4, while Ladbrokes has it at 2/1.

  • Alexander
  • Louis
  • Henry
  • Richard
  • Phillip

The baby boy is likely to have more than one name. His father's full name is William Arthur Phillip Louis, his uncle - Prince Harry - is named Henry Charles Albert David, and his grandfather - the Prince of wales - is Charles Phillip Arthur George.

The baby's official title will be His Royal Highness Prince (name) of Cambridge.
