JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man convicted of killing his girlfriend on Thanksgiving 2012 then running off now faces life in prison.
Calvin Bruce Wright, 25, was convicted Tuesday afternoon of Murder in the Second Degree, five counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
In November 2012, Wright and 24-year-old Rolisha Thomas, were involved in an argument in front of her Almeda Street home. Thomas told Wright that she no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him and that she wanted her cell phone back. During the argument, Wright pulled a gun from his waistband and shot the victim at point blank range. He then turned toward several others that had witnessed the shooting, including members of both the victim and his own family, and fired multiple shots in their direction.
Thomas now faces life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of March 18.
