BRADFORD, Fla. -- A local man has been charged with making threats to shoot children.

James Chris Fields, 57, is being charged with aggravated assault and facilitating or furthering terrorism. The charge of aggravated assault is being enhanced as a terrorist threat under Florida law.

The investigation began when the Governor's Office received information about a threat to shoot neighborhood children. The Governor's Office relayed the information to the Bradford County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies questioned Fields, and, according to investigators, he repeated similar threats to shoot children.

Fields was arrested. He is being held at the Bradford County jail without bond.
