JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A parade meant to break the string of violence in Jacksonville took place Saturday on the streets of Northwest Jacksonville.

Hundreds took part in the parade sponsored by the Jacksonville chapter of MAD DADS.

Mayor Alvin Brown was on-hand and expressed his support for the community's outreach.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reports more the 60 individuals have been the victim of homicides in 2013.

The idea behind this march is fantastic, but who protects those that are brave enough to come forward? The thugs will make them pay for their bravery. Fear is what makes the code of silence exist.
