JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida-Georgia rivalry is extending far beyond the field. Breweries from both states are matching up this week for a tap takeover.
Engine 15 Brewing Company in Jacksonville Beach featured Atlanta's Red Brick and Gainesville's Swamp Head Wednesday night.
The match-up is a way to show off the boom in craft brews taking over the southeast. Jacksonville will soon be home to a sixth brewery, which have all opened in the last four years.
"People like to support local," said Carolyn Graham, Sales Representative for Brown Distributing. "Obviously that helps the economy and they're putting out some really good beer."
Jason Harrison of Green Room Brewing is hoping the match up of Florida-Georgia brews will help expand his business.
Green Room will feature six Georgia and 14 Florida beers from 4 p.m.- midnight Friday.
North Star Pizza in downtown Jacksonville will feature 10 beers from each state on Friday as well.
"A lot of people travel around the country searching out beers, so I hope we can offer them something they've never had. We don't distribute through Georgia yet, so it will be a big weekend for us.
Voting is being done on the tap takeover website.
