British man planned sex with local boy

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A British man was arrested Tuesday for traveling from the United Kingdom to have sex with a male minor.

The father of a 15-year-old male notified police of a suspicious acquaintance that had been staying with his son in his mother's Fruit Cove home.

Police went to the juvenile's mother's house to investigate.  The juvenile said the subject was a friend from school that was staying with him because his parents had kicked him out.

The subject identified himself as "Gary Johnson" and told police he was 17.

Upon further investigation, deputies learned that the subject's name is really Michael Hunter and he is a 25-year-old from Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Police also learned that Hunter had met the juvenile in an internet chat room and this was his second time allegedly coming to St. Johns County to meet with the victim.

F.B.I. agents were called in to assist the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office with their investigation.  Hunter was arrested and transported to the St. Johns County Jail where he remains.
