BRUNSWICK Ga.-- Brunswick Police Public Information Officer Todd Rhodes said there are more than 30 leads in the investigation of a deadly shooting of a 13-month-old baby boy.  The leads have come in to Brunswick Police through silent witness lines, and email.

Police shut down four blocks, including Ellis and London streets, early Friday morning.  Action News reporter Lauren Hallacher reported the streets were open a few hours later.

A quiet neighborhood became ground zero for a massive manhunt Thursday morning. Police blanketed the streets of Brunswick as they searched for two boys between the ages of 10 and 15 they say shot Antonio Angel Santiago and his mother Sherry West.

The mother survived the shooting.

Friday, Police announced they believe a handgun was used in the shooting.  However, no weapon has been located.

"This is obviously just a terrible day in the city of Brunswick," said Mayor Bryan Thompson, shocked by the senseless crime. "It's made even more terrible by the certainly senseless killing of a young child and it appears perpetrated by children themselves."

After hours of searching for the suspect and another 10-12-year-old who is believed to have been present at the shooting, the mayor is begging his community for help.

"I would like to stress and plead with people in this community right now, people are hearing my voice, if you know something about this crime, please call in any information you have," said Mayor Thompson. "If you are not sharing that information, your finger is on the trigger of that gun just as securely as that finger that was on the trigger by the actual shooter."

Police say the two suspects at large are two young black males. The suspected shooter, between the ages of 13 and 15, between 5'7" and 5'9" tall with a thin build and curly hair. It's believed he was last seen wearing a red, long sleeved shirt.

The second male they are looking for is between the ages of 10 and 12, he is described as short in stature with a black shirt.

Police are currently checking attendance records of schools to see who was not in class at the time of the shooting Thursday.

Officers in Brunswick say we will not rest until someone is arrested for this shooting.   The Brunswick Police Department is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who provides information leading to the two suspects.

Brunswick police are encouraging anyone to be aware and alert and to report any suspicious activity.

If you have any information, police urge you to call one of the Silent Witness lines listed below. You will remain anonymous.  Silent Witness Contacts: (912) 267-5516 or 912-264-1333

Statement from Mayor Bryan Thompson

"This is obviously just a terrible day in the city of Brunswick made even more so by the senseless killing of a young child, and it appears perpetrated by children themselves.  I would like to stress and plead with people in our community right now, people who are hearing my voice and seeing us standing here, you know something about this crime.  Please call in any information you have...If you have information (and) you are not sharing that information, your finger is on the trigger of that gun just as securely as that finger was on the trigger by the actual shooter.  You are complicit in this crime if you have information and do not share that."

This is a senseless crime, unspeakable evil! We now have to walk down the street in our own neighborhood in fear and carrying a loaded gun. Per several reports lets hope these detectives are getting real evidence. If I was a lawyer right now ehat they have is very little. No weapon, no motive? This is still under investigation? West stated in viewing photos when pointing out suspect "Looked like" a defense attorney will walk all over this and win. Hello Casey Anthony trial??? So Lets get away from 'race' race doesn't define who we are as individuals only our actions and choices in this life does. Pray they seal the holes in this case. Crimes such as this should not go un punished.

Wow..I lived in Brunswick (on Southend too) for 20 years. It does not sound like something two teenage boys would do, even though America has changed for the worst since then, and the air pollution there is STILL making everyone in the city limits sick and dying before their time there, My husband, a former detective, says there is 'something' wrong' with her story.

Anyone defending these 2 pos bastards have a one way ticket to hell themselves. Sure hope nothing happens to your children at the hands of an animal! This was a defenseless baby. I hope they catch them, hang them by their toes and set them on fire!

Wouldn't you know it some black person on here (niaerda) defending these bastards. You are racist and pathetic. Please join in an effort to ensure the little bastards all over the US are raised to be decent people instead of defending them. And defending after shooting a baby, you people are pathetic.

Sure just blame it on two black kids. One had a red shirt the other one had a black shirt. Where are the artist renderings? Were they wearing, shorts or pants? Were they cargo or denim? Did they have long sleeves or short sleeves? They just showed up out of no where? They wanted money “I did not have any money.” They pushed me out of the way, shot me in the leg and shot my baby. They disappeared into thin air? BUT wait a minute, Brunswick has two red lights. They are looking for two kids with a helicopter? Remember the media went wild with the SUSAN SMITH story. They had black men arrested all over Union, South Carolina in 1994. Bring the FBI in. Raise the reward to $100,000.

These two thugs pos shot this child and mother AFTER the school bell rang...the police need to see WHO SKIPPED. Teaching them younger and younger how to be killer thugs, their sorry mom and no doubt, absent dad, must be SO proud. Poor baby...I cannot imagine this horror happening to me.
